The Company

Our client are a market leader in the defence, national security and commercial markets, providing invaluable solutions that solve customers’ operational challenges on a daily basis.

You will lead, manage and coordinate the Production function in accordance with company policies, procedures, and objectives to ensure both production delivery requirements and KPI’s are consistently met. Accountable for business order fulfilment, production capacity, efficiency, inventory management and business improvement for the Production function.

What will your role look like?

  • Responsible for the overall planning, control and output of the Production Function, ensuring that all products are safe, compliant with test specifications and manufactured to specified standards
  • This will include:
  • Responsible for meeting and monthly report for Production KPIs for on time and in full (OTIF) performance, utilisation, efficiency and reductions in the cost of non-conformance (CONC).
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient planning and scheduling of all production activities; including personnel, components and equipment to help reduce lead times and mitigate problems.
  • Develop and maintain a Kanban system for consumables.
  • Effectively lead and manage the direct ensuring development, welfare and performance management
  • Formulate and recommend production policies and programs that guide the organisation in maintaining and improving its competitive position, lead times and the profitability of the operation.
  • Work with Product Managers to ensure Product Re-investment budgets are utilised for the reduction of CONC and manufacturability.
  • Accountable for ensuring that all Production Tooling, Machines, Supplies and Risk Assessments are in place, and that production is ready to commence on time
  • Liaise with all functions to ensure that capacity constraints are taken into account in the creation of the MPS and that production is as level as possible to ensure personnel fluctuations are minimised.
  • Recruitment and management of contract staff as required during peak production

Due to the nature of this position, candidates must be willing to undergo, and eligible to achieve HMG security clearance (prior to appointment). As a result, candidates should ideally be a British Citizen however you can hold another nationality and have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
