Role

As an Expeditor your responsibilities will include:

  • Chase suppliers to ensure all purchase orders have been received and that deliveries will be made in line with agreed business requirements
  • Generate/receive and file permanent records of acknowledgements and expediting correspondence
  • Communicating with various people both within the company and outside of it in a clear, positive manner
  • Notify production team in a timely manner if a critical delivery is going to be late
  • Work with vendors to resolve issues that could delay critical shipments

Skills and experience

  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to pay attention to detail to ensure nothing slips through the net
  • Exceptional computer skills
  • Impeccable written and verbal communications skills
  • Calculating and reasoning skills to deal with weights, measurements, costs and times

The Role

This Electrical Installation Engineer will be part of a close-knit team that install, commission and test these systems on warships.

  • Extensive travelling and staying away in a few UK locations as well as the occasional internal travel.
  • Providing input into the company’s Engineering, Project Management, Bids and Manufacturing activities.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate must have a strong Electrical background but also practical mechanical experience. You will ideally have experience working in the Defence industry or in a highly regulated industry such as Aerospace, however, this is not essential.

  • Must be able to achieve SC Clearance.
  • Comfortable working on military sites in a customer facing role.
  • A background in electro-mechanical engineering
  • Ideally have a basic understanding of the naval ship environment and appreciation of product/system Bessel integration.

IV & V Lead

Are you able to find out discrepancies in a product and assist developers to build a product which meets the users requirements?

This is an excellent opportunity for you to join a dynamic defence company which in turn will provide you with a challenge.

Purpose of the Role

You will be responsible to work on projects to define interfaces and align processes throughout the safety protection systems design life cycle.

This interface will be between the customer and the design team. This will also include developing/writing plans and processes as and when necessary.

The successful candidate will have the overall responsibility for the Independent Verification and Validation work pages.

In addition as the role progresses this will consider future phases to build the IV&V team working with our US based partner, developing plans that will shape the team (including strategy, location, test facilities and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initial short term work is to define interfaces between design and IV&V, and align processes.
  • Assess current design processes and establish plans to bridge gaps identified.
  • Establish test facilities requirements including test equipment, maintenance, test platforms,
    simulation tools and integration test requirements.
  • Produce test facility, staffing, and equipment reports and plans.
  • Establish resource SQEP profiles and team structure. Assess and tailor for two locations working in
    parallel (US and UK).
  • Working with the project planner establish team size, ramp up and indoctrination needs.
  • Working with Human resources, provide input to staffing plan for recruitment strategy.
  • Lead the IV&V team as it is established.

Skill Set/Qualifications

  • You must have a sound understanding or generic system engineering processes
  • Knowledge of System Modelling
  • Experience and implementation of audible, formal, controlled and correct interfaces between IV&V and the design team
  • Practical expertise in the verification of electronics systems and system elements
  • Expertise in setting up processes and interfaces for the independent verification of electronic systems
  • Must be capable of reviewing and providing technical comments on project governance documentation (e.g. IV&V Plan)

Desirable Skills

  • Software tools familiarity:
    Requirements Management tools particularly DOORS NG or ARAS
  • Configuration management tools particularly Subversion
  • MathWorks Model-Based design and verification environment (i.e. Simulink)
  • Programmable logic (i.e. FPGA) development tools
  • Verification of FPGA-based system elements and systems
  • Understanding of programmable logic or software development and associated processes
  • Understanding of safety-related instrumentation and control systems.
  • Nuclear industry exposure
