An opportunity has opened up for a skilled Welder to join a specialist team who have been operating for 76 years just outside of New Milton. The ideal candidate will be extremely confident with Tig tubular welding but as long as you are keen to learn training will be provided. The company specialises in a range of industries and are looking for someone who is happy to get involved in all aspects of the company in order to get projects finished so there will be a large amount of fabrication included and not just bench work.

Purpose of a Mechanical Design Engineer:

You will be Reporting directly to the Head of Systems Engineering and have a background in Defence, Industrial or Aerospace

Working as a key member of the Systems Engineering Team you will be responsible for the mechanical design of solutions from the ground up, producing high quality CAD models / technical drawings and working with other departments as necessary throughout the design and development phase from concept to implementation.

This is an important position in a new team; as well as working on projects from a mechanical design perspective, there is also the potential to have direct input to the tailoring of internal processes and systems that will be developed as the Systems Engineering team grows.

 

Mechanical Design Engineer Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Utilising your mechanical / electromechanical engineering experience, you will use your 3D CAD design experience to contribute to the innovation and quality of new products within the Systems Engineering Team
  • Designing products for harsh environments – i.e. shock, vibration, thermal extremes – working knowledge of Military Specifications and Standards ideal
  • Evaluate and interpret project technical requirements from a mechanical design perspective to develop concept designs.
  • Competent at authoring complex CAD models, drawings and assemblies using SolidWorks CAD tool. Ideally competent at analysis and understands Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics
  • Competent at creating drawings, all dimensioning, applying linear and geometric tolerances.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals, processes, and standards.
  • Thorough understanding of Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly
  • Understands the mechanical aspects of working with designs containing connector systems, harnesses, PCBs, and mechanical design for EMC.
  • Understanding of electrical wiring and schematics
  • Understanding of designing for longevity and useability / through-life support, for example consideration of Human Factors and Integrated Logistics Support requirements
  • Understand the need for configuration control, change management and security marking aspects of all types of documentation and drawings.
  • Experienced in managing own work and able to prioritise tasks to meet milestones.
  • Knowledge of Project, Systems Engineering and Business lifecycles, with an understanding of Engineering activities at each stage of the lifecycle
  • Knowledge and understanding of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals, processes, and standards.

Purpose of a Health and Safety Advisor

Reporting to the Health and Safety Officer, this role will contribute to our ongoing commitment of creating a safe and secure work environment.

You will work closely with employees at all levels and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations and will have a hands-on approach and demonstrable experience of working within a manufacturing environment.

Ideally you will have been working at Coordinator level or similar and be looking to advance to an Advisor role. However, don’t be fooled by the Advisor title – this is very much a “doing” role, but will involve a level of advising too!

You will have a good understanding of managing contractors on site, undertaking risk assessments, COSHH assessments, incidents investigation, and ideally have worked with facilities, organising PAT testing and fire prevention maintenance. It is important that you have created and delivered successful training programmes for the general workforce.

 

Health and Safety Advisor Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of existing safety measures.
  • Develop, update, and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of and adhere to safety policies.

  • Ability to work independently but also collaboratively with other teams.

Electrical Fitter

We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Fitter for our Client in Bournemouth.

The role is to manufacture harnesses, control module LEDs assemblies and install completed items into units, conforming to all required specifications.

Units are sometimes built in such a way as to be challenging to install  electrical items with in confined areas, working from step ladders, platforms will be  required.

Key Responsibilities of an Electrical Fitter:

  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics.
  • Eye for detail required, good communication skills.
  • Experienced Harness manufacturing, select correct gauge cable, use of Raychem ident system ,, cut to specified lengths metric and imperial measurements minimum of 2 years’ experience required.
  • Stripping cables, use of crimp tools hydraulic and hand, assembly of connectors. Solder sleeves/splices, use of heat guns, infra-red heat guns.
  • Right first time culture
  • Ability to solder to a high standard
  • Ability to act as a standalone operator on any given project
  • Installation of completed electrical items into units, use of hand tool to install all fixed provisions in preparation for harnesses, make of remaining connectors in situ complying with all specification with in the drawings
  • Working with in confined area is required
  • Ability to control paperwork/documents as required with in company procedures
  • Provide own tools, ,specialised tooling will be provided by the company

Pay rate for this is £16.60 per hour on a PAYE basis
