Technical Buyer
We are currently partnering with a global engineering group who deliver innovative engineering solutions to large global markets including iron and steel, oil and gas, petrochemical and automation. This business continues to demonstrate a healthy financial performance and proudly encourage employee progression and development. Our client is now currently looking for a Technical Buyer to join the team.
As Technical Buyer you will play a critical role within the business, sourcing the correct services and products at the right time and price in line Material Requirement Planning requirements.
Key responsibilities as Technical Buyer
- Purchasing components as required and directed in line with requirements generated via the MRP system, ensuring that OTIF requirements are fully achieved.
- Review MRP rescheduling requirements and make informed decisions from outcome.
- Contribute to and lead supplier negotiations, with the support of the Purchasing Team Leader and Purchasing Manager
- Analyse BOM’s and engineering drawings to understand key manufacturing requirements.
- Represent purchasing in internal cross functional project meetings.
- Ensure all purchase activities are completed in a controlled and professional.
- Visit suppliers to establish core strengths and build sound and professional supplier relationships.
Experience as Technical Buyer
- 4 GCSE’s grade C and above including English and Maths
- Significant experience in a similar Purchasing role within a technical engineering environment
- Hols CIPS Level 4 or studying towards CIPS
- Experience of pull systems like Kanban
- Skilled in reading Engineering drawings
- Excellent negotiator
- Analytical
- Methodical and organised in the execution of work
- Proficient in IT
