UK MANUFACTURING RECORDS FASTEST GROWTH FOR THREE YEARS

Figures show, despite concerns of a Brexit-driven economic slowdown this year, surveys show that last month Britain’s factories reported their fastest growth for three years.

The strongest pick-up in new work since the start of 2014 was reported by the manufacturing sector, in both recruitment and production. The sector continues to make up about a tenth of the UK economy with strong demand from the domestic market as well as overseas following the sharp fall in the value of Sterling with the Brexit making UK goods cheaper.
With a wavering market facing more political headwinds including a general election, the big question is whether this growth can be maintained. As Brexit talks continue the threat to growth lingers with caution and uncertainty affecting approach to investment in the sector.

The report brings some welcome good news to the sector.
