Electronic Inspector

Holt Engineering is looking for an Electronic Inspector for an established electronics manufacturing business in Havant! 

Our client are providers of expertise and skills to the space and defence industries. They offer a combination of services are operate to a level where quality is key to their DNA therefore IPC or ISO standards are expected at all times.

As an Electronic Inspector, you will be responsible for: Final inspection of electrical & electronic assemblies. To identify quality problems and where appropriate provide the quality controller recommended corrective and preventive actions.

In return you will work 7:30am-4pm Monday to Thursday with an early finish at 12 on Fridays and receive an hourly pay rate between £13-£14ph.
 
Key Responsibilities for the Electronic Inspector: 

  • Final Inspection of PCB’s, Electrical & Electronic Assemblies.
  • Assist in the resolution of quality-related problems.
  • To work with the Quality Controller to develop, improve & maintain quality standards across the areas of responsibility.
  • To work with the Quality Controller to ensure that the key performance targets of quality, productivity, on-time delivery are met.
  • Provide QA support as necessary.
  • To assist the Quality Controller in the diagnosis of quality problems.

For the successful Electronic Inspector role we will require:

  • Excellent communicator, written and verbal.
  • Analytical
  • Must be able to work under own initiative to solve problems.
  • Motivated
  • Good time management skills.
  • Calm and collected with the ability to work under extreme pressure.
  • Structured and logical approach to problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of Quality management system procedures within manufacturing 
  • ESA & IPC manufacturing experience desirable 
  • Understanding of complex engineering drawings & instructions

The Electronic Inspector is a key part of the operations structure, acting as key support for the Quality Controller.

They manufacturer highly reliable bespoke technology for harsh environments. With an ever growing order book and a brand new site they are now looking to grow the team.

This is a permanent position paying £30,000-£33,000pa depending on experience.

The Stores Controller will play a critical role in managing inventory and ensuring smooth operations within the stores area. You will be responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing goods and materials efficiently whilst also maintain accurate records of stock levels.

The responsibilities of the Stores Controller will be:

  • Monitor stock levels and create reorder requests
  • Receive incoming shipments of goods and materials and verify accuracy of shipments against purchase orders or delivery notes
  • Inspect received items for damage, defects or discrepancies and report any issues
  • Store received items in designated storage areas
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and audits to reconcile physical stock with system records
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels using manual or computerised systems
  • Generate reports on inventory levels, stock movements and other relevant metrics 
  • Process requests for materials or goods 
  • Pick, pack and prepare items for shipment or delivery according to order specifications
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the storage area to minimise safety hazards
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding inventory status 
  • Support the production team on an ad hoc basis as required
  • Handle hazardous materials or substances

The successful Stores Controller will need:

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills 
  • The ability to prioritise tasks effectively 
  • Proven experience in a similar role- preferably within a warehouse or storage environment
  • Proficient in inventory management software or systems 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping 
  • Excellent written and verbal skills 
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations 
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment 
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects safely
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • A high level understanding of computer hardware configuration
  • Forklift License (Essential)

The Role of the Quality Manager will consist of :

This role encompasses the following responsibilities:

  • Managing the day-to-day activities and priorities of the Quality Team, in line with business requirements
  • Setting goals and objectives for the team, holding 1-2-1 and team meetings
  • Developing the skills and knowledge of the team, career path and succession planning
  • Promote and develop a culture of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality and Continuous Improvement across the site.
  • Evaluate systemic processes covering key operations and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage approved Continuous Improvement projects by coordinating resources and monitoring progress to the conclusion of the project.
  • Engage colleagues in continuous improvement, through training, coaching and leading effective CI meetings so they apply excellent lean techniques and methodologies.
  • Managing of all related non-conformance issues.
  • Implement action plans to improve performance where KPIs show deficiencies in processes and develop department KPI’s where required.
  • Assist with the introduction of additional quality standards and oversee the successful management and accreditation of current business certifications such as ISO9001, 14001, 45001 and Atex / IEC 80079-34.
  • Analyse and the reporting of data for accidents, incidents, near misses and identify root cause analysis to improve operational practice.
  • Ensure the business is legally compliant with all health, safety, environmental and other relevant legislation.

  • Problem solving using LEAN techniques such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa to identify problem root causes and effective corrective / preventative actions.
  • Ability to initiate, plan and organise.
  • Proficient in using all Microsoft office packages.
  • Management of successful Internal and External ISO audits.

The following are a benefit but not a requirement:

  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH would be advantageous.
  • Lead Auditor qualification would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of one or more rigorous quality standards such as aerospace, medical and UL requirements would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge around the EU battery directive / new EU battery regulation would be advantageous.
  • Experience of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Product Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Must have Industry Standard Inspection Qualifications (IPC).
  • Awareness & understanding of QMS Disciplines IAW BS EN ISO 9001:2008 & AS EN 9100.
  • Awareness & understanding of ESD Controls.
  • Reading & understanding Complex Engineering Drawings & Instructions.

For a PCB Inspectort role we will require:
