Manufacturing Team Leader

We are currently partnering with a well-known design and manufacturing business in Dorset, who deliver customised leading technology and services. They were established many years ago and have over doubled their turnover. They sell a diverse range of products to a large variety of markets. As a growing forward-thinking business, they’re now looking to recruit a Manufacturing Team Leader to join their team.

As Manufacturing Team Leader you will be responsible for actively supporting the day-to-day delivery of work, quality training and maintenance escalation, first line resolution of problems and distribution of staff to ensure that daily delivery requirement are met.

Good technical knowledge of the area will be key as this is a hands-on role requiring a rough 50/50 split of direct activity/ team management to help support delivery of product and actions outlined by the production supervisor.

Key responsibilities as Manufacturing Team Leader

  • Lead a team of production operatives and ensure the required training to accomplish an efficient and resilient production flow.
  • To be accountable for an on -time delivery and productivity within your control
  • Monitor and manage labour and machines to ensure the priority needs are met.
  • Always ensure team adherence to procedures and raise concerns to supervisor.
  • Assist with Quality control procedures as required.
  • Responsible for the 5 S’ workplace organisation within area of responsibility
  • To assist the production supervisor in improvements by contributing to initiatives and attending meetings where necessary

Manufacturing Engineer Role and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and maintain production systems to meet product delivery goals within specified quality and cost parameters.

  • Provide support for product design optimization for manufacturability and assembly.
  • Assist in product Computer-Aided Manufacturing/Engineering (CAM/CAE) activities.

  • Familiarity with materials and the processes involved in manufacturing.
  • Understanding of fundamental design concepts.
  • Familiarity and practical exposure to analysis of failure modes and their effects, advanced planning for product quality, the approval process for production parts, and efficient manufacturing methodologies is considered advantageous. (FMEA, APQP, PPAP)
  • Practical understanding of aerospace-related products and their respective production methods.
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing of composite materials.

  • General business administration, purchasing and support such as: IT/telecoms equipment, factory supplies, PPE, furniture, and office stationery.

Experience as Manufacturing Administrator:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a generalist Business Administrator, HR Administrator, H&S Administrator, or similar style roles.
  • Naturally an energetic and supportive team player, displaying a passionate “can do” attitude.
  • Strong administration skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and a varied workload to consistently achieve targets and deadlines.
  • A tactful and diplomatic individual, demonstrating a high level of accountability and confidentiality.
  • Good interpersonal skills for dealing with employees, visitors, and customers professionally and politely.
  • This is a role that spans multiple disciplines e.g. HR, H&S, Facilities and general administration and reception duties etc, so you must be willing to embrace all aspects of the role, and learn/develop your skills in any areas which you may not already have working experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Previous HR Training such as CIPD Level 3 or ACAS would be highly advantageous but is not essential.

  • Ensuring all parts are stored or issued in the correct way to avoid damage. 
  • Picking and kitting 
  • Maintaining accurate records on ERP systems as well as completing paperwork quickly and efficiently

  • Working in factory to assist machine operators
