CAD Design -Steel Detailer

 We are currently partnering with a local employer who have an enviable reputation for design with the added benefit of manufacturing on-site. Our client offers a high-quality product and have a worldwide reputation for excellence. They work on projects all around the UK and have exported to over 140 countries throughout the company’s history. This is very much an engineering business, who are able to fabricate. Our client is now expanding and are looking for a CAD Design -Steel Detailer to join their established team.

As CAD Design -Steel Detailer, you will be part of busy drawing office as a key member of the project team working for a fantastic local business who will support your growth and development to fulfil your potential.

 Key Responsibilities as CAD Design -Steel Detailer

• You will be responsible for creating fabrication drawings including editing to enable accurate manufacture.
• You will communicate effectively with the design team, Production Manager and Factory team and all other internal departments and customers as required.
• You will be involved in creating 3D Modelling and detailing using TEKLA 3D detailing software although experience of TEKLA is not essential as long as you have previous AutoCAD experience.

 
Experience as CAD Design -Steel Detailer

• Previous design and AutoCAD experience in a workplace environment is essential.

Mechanical Design Engineer

We are currently working alongside one of the globes largest and most prestigious manufacturing businesses, to help them find a number of experienced Design Engineers on a contract basis helping with critical projects.
 
The company are a long established and incredibly well known manufacturing company producing electro-mechanical solutions across the world for a huge range of industries. As a Design Engineer you will be involved in the design and development of a variety of solutions for a wide range of clients and customers from within a number of critical industries.
 
Key responsibilities as Design Engineer:

• Produce detailed design/layouts to meet customer requirement and specification.
• Support detailed estimates at the request of project leaders as a contribution to product development proposals.
• Ensure that ‘Design for Six Sigma’ principles are observed throughout all phases of the design process and apply data rational analysis to arrive at robust solutions
• Check design feasibility by performing design, stress and performance calculations using 3D CAD, finite element and traditional analysis methods.
• Work in accordance with procedures and design standards and to contribute to developing best working practices.
• Be responsible for the completion and checking of drawing packs and any other supporting documentation. This will involve prototype and production details and assembly drawings and associated tolerance analyses.
• To liaise with production engineering and production planning in order to achieve a design/detail package best suited to production and to be aware of changes in manufacturing technology.
• Support engineering change requests and process deviation/waivers where necessary.
• Be committed to delivering against project schedules and meeting project milestones whilst working within a multi project team environment.

 
Experience required as Design Engineer:

• Change oriented and able to develop innovative solutions in a fluid team environment
• Customer aware and a strong results focused work ethic
• Desirable to have 2-5 years’ experience of CAD, ideally in the field of precision components. Recent graduates will be considered.
• Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Knowledge of six sigma and lean would be an advantage
• Knowledge of machining and other manufacturing techniques advantageous
• Experience of small component design, design for manufacture principles and fine tolerance components is desirable.
• Some understanding of generic engineering and/or Thermodynamic principles and the effect of material selection would be advantageous.

Senior Electrical and Electronic Design Engineer

The Senior Electrical and Electronic Design Engineer will be responsible for the conceptual design and flow-down of work packages and successful product realisation.  This role will provide technical support and training to less senior EE engineers.

• General electrical/ Electronic design specifications for team members
• Prepare cost estimates for quotes
• Acting in the capacity of a lead technical engineer on projects including generating electrical/ electronic design specifications for team members
• Design PCB’s when necessary
• Communicate with customers and project engineers to clarify requirements/ meet design specifications
• Identify and support timely development of “fit for purpose” electrical drawings and electronic documentation
• Sign off manufacturing drawing pack (readiness to build)

• Running and supervising testing

• Formal engineering qualification in electronic/ electrical design
• Min 5 years related industry experience

As Mechanical Design Engineer you will report into the Senior Design Engineer and be responsible for the design development projects from concept to manufactured solutions for new designs (NPI), design development of non-standard product, through to the continual improvement of established ranges through engineering changes

 
 Key responsibilities as Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Apply sound engineering principles and design philosophy is followed with focus on designs are compliant with applicable codes, statutory regulations, prevailing standards, policies, and procedures.
• Continual improvement of established ranges through engineering changes (ECN )
• Investigate Design Factors such as function, materials, performance, interchangeability, cost and operational efficiency. Preparation of materials, cost and timing estimates, report, and design specifications
• Preparation of data for parts, fabrications, and assemblies, ie: 2d and 3d drawings, BOM’s technical specifications etc
• Collaborate with manufacturing, , production ,engineering, purchasing, quality, sales and other stakeholders where possible
• Process design changes, update drawings and manage drawing registration.

 
Experience and skill required as Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes with an emphasis on light fabrications
• Ability to apply sound engineering and design philosophy to all design activities to provide designed and engineered solutions.
• CAD software experience -windchill or equivalent product/ lifecycle management software
• HND, Degree or equivalent qualifications desirable but not essential
• Excellent part modelling, surface modelling, fabrication and assembly creation experience

 As Electrical Design Engineer, you will be working with the Electrical Engineering team to deliver innovative designs and solutions for both new and existing projects.
 
Key Responsibilities as Electrical Design Engineer

• Design and produce both 2D and 3D designs and design data to required specifications.
• Feed product improvement suggestions into the design team
• Support with the investigating, solution providing and resolution of build issues.
