As a Planning Engineer, you will have previous hands-on Production experience and be happy to get involved with projects. service the customer from a contact perspective as well as being able to work with Manufacturing data and processes.

 

Key experience as Planning Engineer:

 

  • You will have the ability to create product structures and produce all related manufacturing data and documents.
  • Have previous hands-on experience as a Production Engineer, with the ability to plan jobs and understand planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Identify and document all tooling requirements.
  • Experienced with continuous improvement within a lean manufacturing environment.
  • As part of this role, you will be responsible for supporting customer enquiries and customer order reviews. This will include supporting customer and internal meetings.

Mechanical Design Engineer

We are currently working alongside one of the globes largest and most prestigious manufacturing businesses, to help them find a number of experienced Design Engineers on a contract basis helping with critical projects.
 
The company are a long established and incredibly well known manufacturing company producing electro-mechanical solutions across the world for a huge range of industries. As a Design Engineer you will be involved in the design and development of a variety of solutions for a wide range of clients and customers from within a number of critical industries.
 
Key responsibilities as Design Engineer:

  • Produce detailed design/layouts to meet customer requirement and specification.
  • Support detailed estimates at the request of project leaders as a contribution to product development proposals.
  • Ensure that ‘Design for Six Sigma’ principles are observed throughout all phases of the design process and apply data rational analysis to arrive at robust solutions
  • Check design feasibility by performing design, stress and performance calculations using 3D CAD, finite element and traditional analysis methods.
  • Work in accordance with procedures and design standards and to contribute to developing best working practices.
  • Be responsible for the completion and checking of drawing packs and any other supporting documentation. This will involve prototype and production details and assembly drawings and associated tolerance analyses.
  • To liaise with production engineering and production planning in order to achieve a design/detail package best suited to production and to be aware of changes in manufacturing technology.
  • Support engineering change requests and process deviation/waivers where necessary.
  • Be committed to delivering against project schedules and meeting project milestones whilst working within a multi project team environment.

 
Experience required as Design Engineer:

  • Change oriented and able to develop innovative solutions in a fluid team environment
  • Customer aware and a strong results focused work ethic
  • Desirable to have 2-5 years’ experience of CAD, ideally in the field of precision components. Recent graduates will be considered.
  • Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of six sigma and lean would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of machining and other manufacturing techniques advantageous
  • Experience of small component design, design for manufacture principles and fine tolerance components is desirable.
  • Some understanding of generic engineering and/or Thermodynamic principles and the effect of material selection would be advantageous.

Senior Design Engineer

Senior Design Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Full Product Lifecycle Ownership:
    • Evaluate and interpret project technical requirements to develop innovative concept architectures and designs.
    • Design and develop hardware solutions from initial concept, through qualification testing, to final implementation and integration.
    • Ensure all customer requirements are meticulously met throughout the development process, demonstrating successful completion of Verification and Validation activities.
    • Support the creation of comprehensive test strategies and plans for formal qualification testing (including shock, vibration, EMC, and safety).
    • Produce and maintain all necessary design documentation.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Play an active role in key milestone events like internal and customer-facing Design Reviews.
    • Support the build of initial prototypes and qualification systems.
    • Support other Engineering Team members by sharing design information as required.
  • Business Acumen:
    • Possess knowledge of Project, Product, and Business lifecycles, understanding Engineering activities at each stage.
    • Provide support, as required, to other areas of the Business.
  • Supplier Management:
    • Work with external suppliers and manufacturers, maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Essential Skills:
    • Experience in an Engineering environment, ideally defence-related.
    • Designing products for harsh environments (shock, vibration, thermal extremes).
    • Working knowledge of Military Specifications and Standards (advantageous).
    • Extensive knowledge of Electrical/Electronic/Computer components and systems.
    • Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals, processes, and standards.
    • Good understanding of EMC, particularly in design.
    • Experience of designing for longevity and usability/through-life support (Human Factors and Integrated Logistics Support).
    • Proficient in creating accurate and professional documentation.
    • Understands configuration control, change management, and security marking aspects of all types of documentation and drawings.
    • Experienced in managing own work and able to prioritise tasks to meet milestones.
    • Working effectively in a multi-disciplined environment (mechanical, electrical, electronic, safety, human factors, security, software etc.).
    • Strong attention to detail, conscientious, and takes pride in work.
    • Able to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative.
    • Fully conversant with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Eligible for SC Clearance.
