Job Title: Product Manager

We are working with a leading UK manufacturer and supplier of specialist engineering solutions and bespoke high integrity based products. They operate worldwide, within an array of sectors and with products satisfying many diverse and challenging applications. 

Part of the exciting growth of our client they are looking for a Product Manager who can really own and drive continuous improvement within the company on specific product lines. 

Product Manager Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute comprehensive product strategies for our piping solutions, aligned with the company’s overall goals and market trends.
• Conduct thorough market research and competitor analysis to identify customer needs, emerging trends, and potential gaps in our target markets.
• Work closely with the engineering team to conceptualise, plan, and execute the development of new piping solutions.
• Collaborate on product design, prototyping, testing, and validation to ensure high-quality and reliable products.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams, including engineering, production, business development, marketing, and suppliers, to conceptualise, design, and develop innovative products solutions that meet customer demands and business objectives.
• Determine appropriate pricing strategies that align with market dynamics and ensure product profitability.
• Analyse cost structures and pricing models to maximise revenue while meeting customer expectations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely sourcing of high-quality materials and components for our piping solutions.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback, insights, and requirements for piping products, ensuring they are optimised for user satisfaction.
• Plan and execute successful product launches for our piping solutions, collaborating with the marketing team to develop effective go-to-market strategies, messaging, and promotional materials.
• Contribute to campaigns that drive excitement and adoption in the market.
• Develop and provide product support data and tools for internal and external stakeholders.
• Continuously monitor the performance of piping products, gather data, and analyse metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimisation.

Product Manager Desired Skills and Requirements:

• Recognised Product Management qualifications and/or degree in mechanical or production engineering disciplines. Or a proven track record and practical experience in related roles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively collaborate with diverse teams, stakeholders, and suppliers.
• Familiarity with mechanical piping solutions and polymer technologies and their implementation within our target markets would be advantageous – including district energy, critical infrastructure, off-site fabrication and chemical/hazardous drainage.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage projects, and deliver results.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• A passion for innovation and to champion our product and service offerings.

Production Team Leader

We are currently partnering with a well-known design and manufacturing business in Dorset, who deliver customised leading technology and services. They were established many years ago and have over doubled their turnover. They sell a diverse range of products to a large variety of markets. As a growing forward-thinking business, they’re now looking to recruit a Production Team Leader to join their team.

As Production Team Leader you will be responsible for actively supporting the day-to-day delivery of work, quality training and maintenance escalation, first line resolution of problems and distribution of staff to ensure that daily delivery requirement are met.

Good technical knowledge of the area will be key as this is a hands-on role requiring a rough 50/50 split of direct activity/ team management to help support delivery of product and actions outlined by the production supervisor.

Key responsibilities as Production Team Leader

• Lead a team of production operatives and ensure the required training to accomplish an efficient and resilient production flow.
• To be accountable for an on -time delivery and productivity within your control

As Quality Engineer you will champion both the product and process quality at an operational level. Supporting in the achievement of company objectives and targets

 
Key responsibilities as Quality Engineer:

 

• Provide Quality support within the manufacturing facility to achieve the Quality objectives and reduce the cost of poor Quality.
• Facilitate root cause analysis and reporting activities.
• Facilitate the successful completion of the internal auditing program.
• Ensure that ISO9001 requirements are understood and adhered.

Experience as Quality Engineer:

 
Personal Specification:

• Degree/ HNC/ NVQ or higher in a Quality/ Engineering or technical subject or relevant industry experience
• Knowledge of/ competent use of investigative techniques: internal auditing, 8D, DMAIC, the 5 Why’s and other Lean measurement tools
• Knowledge of/ competent use in APQP project processes, DFMEA, PFMEA, Quality Control plan and process flow mapping
• Knowledge of competency in Supplier related Quality practices and Processes: PPAP, ISIR and supplier related Practices and Processes PPAP, ISIR and Supplier Quality Assessments
• 6 months plus experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
• Experience working independently to see Quality concerns through to resolution in full
• Capability to be an advocate for Quality and process improvement.
• A strong effective communicator who can liaise professionally with all levels of staff and management, both internally and externally
• Full driving License

Key responsibilities as Senior Engineer:

• Co-ordinate projects through concept to delivery
• Commercial responsibility for estimating.
• Account Management of customers
• Support both NPI and existing production programs, working closely with the customer.
• Overseeing and mentoring junior members of the team
• Responsible for checking and approving other engineer’s work.
• Come up with innovative manufacturing solutions for parts.
• A good understanding in varied and complex tooling, with the ability to sign off the design of such tool sets.
• Responsible for the input into the MRP system (Progress) all new items, maintenance, and upkeep of Bill of Materials, loading sales orders and ensuring delivery notes are provided for your projects.
• Establish clear requirements for the project with the customer prior to the start of manufacture.
• Ensure materials are made available in a timely manner, either through direct procurement or delegating procurement activities
• Project manage component manufacture through factory and working with external suppliers.
• Work effectively with the quality team to ensure compliance to Customer & Regulatory requirements.
• Co-Ordination of part manufacture on the shop-floor with production supervisors

Experience as Senior Engineer:

• Degree level education in Engineering
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
• Experience with Composite and GRP materials and manufacturing
