Manufacturing Engineer

I’m on the lookout for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a highly reputable and long established company within the Yeovil area. The role of the Manufacturing Engineer is to implement new and improve existing production lines and processes in order to maximise efficiency’s. You will be tasked to design, setup and develop these processes utilising lean principles to optimise productivity.

Manufacturing Engineer Role: 

• To assist the Technician team in determining the correct TPM activities and schedules.
• To design, setup and develop production lines / processes utilising lean principles to optimise cell productivity.
• Review existing production Cells and implement changes to improve labour utilisation.
• Provide solutions / improvements to address HSE issues
• Provide support to the manufacturing Cells and drive continuous improvement through RCA.
• Provide technical / Process support to Engineering Technicians in support of RCA.
• To ensure that all new or modified processes, equipment and materials are introduced and used in accordance with UK Health and Safety regulations and Company Procedures.
• Ensuring timely completion of Kaizen ideas
• Be a key driver in our safety first culture

The successful Manufacturing Engineer: 

• Ideally Degree Educated and/or Time served apprenticeship in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in Manufacturing Engineering related support or suitable discipline.
• Proven Experience in managing projects is essential.
• Six Sigma Green Belt qualification (or practical application) is desirable.
• Hands on practical Engineering skills 
• Demonstrable RCA problem solving skills.

As Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor, you will provide experience within production and R&D, leading and supporting project teams on continuous improvement of existing processes.

Key responsibilities as Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor:

• You will be involved in the new product design reviews, offering input for improvement in the manufacturing process and work flows.
• Lead and nurture a multi-skilled manufacturing engineering team to produce and implement growth, increasing capacity and reducing costs.
• Be involved with creating programs and instructions to allow manufacturers to meet customer requirements.

Experience required as Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor:

• HNC/D in Engineering Mechanical engineering or apprentice trained with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in this area.

We are currently partnering with a manufacturing business in Dorset. An established and exciting business who manufacturing a variry of productors fro multiple sectors. As a growing forward-thinking business, they’re now looking to recruit a Manufacturing Team Leader to join their team.

As Manufacturing Team Leader you will be responsible for actively supporting the day-to-day delivery of work, quality training and maintenance escalation, first line resolution of problems and distribution of staff to ensure that daily delivery requirement are met.

Good technical knowledge of the area will be key as this is a hands-on role requiring a rough 50/50 split of direct activity/ team management to help support delivery of product and actions outlined by the production supervisor.

Senior Manufacturing Engineer

We are currently working with a worldwide supplier of precision products covering most industries across the globe, and they are on the lookout for an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join their growing business.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be mainly responsible for guiding production and R&D departments on best practice and most efficient ways in which to build the customers products.

Responsibilities as Senior Manufacturing Engineer:

• Lead, mentor and build a multiskilled manufacturing engineering team equipped to support production produce existing product lines and implement growth plans to increase capacity and reduce costs.
• Support projects for new equipment and process implementation as required
• Improve processes via new tooling strategies to improve yield and reduce cycle time
• Create, review and amend manufacturing layouts for production operatives to follow
• Develop operating instructions (MIPs, layouts, inspection guides) and equipment specifications for production activities
• Creating programs for CNC machines to manufacture components as required.
• Research / recommend and purchase cutting tools for new and current component production

Experience required as Senior Manufacturing Engineer:

• HNC/D in Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering or apprentice trained with minimum of 5 years’ proven work experience in this area.
• Experience with CNC programming languages (Siemens, Fanuc, Mazatrol etc.).
• Experience programming 5-Axis milling / mill-turn and turning CNC machines.
• Experience of CAD/CAM software (Solid Edge).
• Wide understanding of machine shop processes.
• Experience with of 2D CAD / 3D CAD systems (AutoCAD, Solidworks).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Knowledge of MRP / ERP systems.

This Poole based business deliver their products through various channels including resellers, rental partners, direct end users and strong distribution network.

As Manufacturing Administrator, you will assist the day-to-day support functions of a growing business, working with the business systems team and HR Manager. You will be heavily involved with HR administration, QHSE administration, facilities support, business purchasing and general office assistance. This role is a critical support function within the business. This is a challenging role that is varied and developing.
 
 
Key responsibilities as Manufacturing Administrator
 

• HR administration and support such as: personnel files, promotions, appraisals, job descriptions, recruitment, referencing, employment contracts, holiday requests, training matrixes and leavers.
• H&S administration and support such as: company vehicle management, training, first aid kit inventories, routine H&S inspections, checks and tests.
• Facilities administration and support such as: arranging contractors e.g. cleaner, landscapers and electrician etc, maintaining cleaning and kitchen supplies and stock level management.
• General business administration, purchasing and support such as: IT/telecoms equipment, factory supplies, PPE, furniture, and office stationery.
• Managing office events and niceties such as Christmas, socials, birthday, and welcome cards.
• Liaising with suppliers, contractors, and agencies for various business services.
• Answering and dealing with incoming calls politely and professionally.

Experience as Manufacturing Administrator:

• A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a generalist Business Administrator, HR Administrator, H&S Administrator, or similar style roles.
• Naturally an energetic and supportive team player, displaying a passionate “can do” attitude.
• Strong administration skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• The ability to prioritise tasks and a varied workload to consistently achieve targets and deadlines.
• A tactful and diplomatic individual, demonstrating a high level of accountability and confidentiality.
• Good interpersonal skills for dealing with employees, visitors, and customers professionally and politely.
• This is a role that spans multiple disciplines e.g. HR, H&S, Facilities and general administration and reception duties etc, so you must be willing to embrace all aspects of the role, and learn/develop your skills in any areas which you may not already have working experience.
• Proficient in MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
• Previous HR Training such as CIPD Level 3 or ACAS would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
• Previous H&S Training such as IOSH or ROSPA would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
