Mechanical Design Engineer

As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work with customers, the sales, and the design and production departments to review assess and improve legacy designs and drawings as well as working on NPI projects. You will ensure products achieve the correct cost point and perform as needed in accordance with the customers wants and needs.

 
Key responsibilities as Mechanical Design Engineer:

  • Provide evidence-based conclusions and design proposals from quantitative analysis that gives insight and direction for the development of the business through performing classical engineering analysis on designs including stress, fatigue & vibration using conventional analysis and computer simulation
  • Produce technical reports, clearly identifying the preferred course of action and reasoning after analysis of legacy and NPI designs
  • Produce product designs, with associated component and assembly drawings for each manufacturing stage
  • Carry out analysis of existing product design dimensions, tolerances and features, along with product performance, manufacturability and cost to understand areas of improvement and inform the business on design suitability for different applications.
  • Regulate design standards through a controlled and authorised revision system (PDM Vault)

Experience as Mechanical Design Engineer:

  • Meticulous level of attention to detail
  • Minimum OF 5 YEARS Design Engineering experience in an engineering Manufacturing organisation
  • Good understanding of Materials/ metallurgy. An understanding of galvanic properties of metals would be beneficial
  • High level of familiarity with industry control standards BSI, ISO, IATF, AS9000
  • Expert in mechanical design, with innovative design skills in Electro – Mechanical mechanisms
  • Excellent communicator – ability to define operational needs
  • Able to assimilate detail and identify key issues quickly, understanding the impact on tactics and strategy
  • Experience and proven track record in the use of Finite Element Analysis to model and evaluate key variables.
  • Experienced in CAD/ Solidworks

Lead Sales Designer

We are currently partnering with a large high quality engineering construction business who work with well-known Nationwide clients in the Residential, Defence, Education and Health care Sectors. As Lead Sales Designer you will be responsible for creating an interpretation of the clients needs. Taking ownership of the live project by adopting an efficient approach- using the MMC system.   • Prepare site plans, layouts, sections, and evaluations and then presenting the designs proposals for build ability, quality, performance, and commercial considerations.

  • Have an Engineering background and an in depth understanding of how buildings are constructed. Drawing Office or Architectural practice and meeting the demands of designing for manufacturing
  • Thorough knowledge of Building Regulations and other legislative
  • Excellent visualisation and communication skills that encourage good relationships with colleagues and other professionals
  • To be able to produce detailed drawings, models, and layouts in collaboration with Architects, Structural Engineers, and MEP Consultants.
  • Must have 3D Software experience to create a unified model that all disciplines and trades can use to complete their work
  • Produce schedules, cutting lists and BOM’s for purchasing from the Revit model
  • Create accurate and concise working and installation drawings for both factory and site operatives

Experience required as Supply Chain Analyst:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university (Business, Supply Chain, or Technical preferred) is preferred. APICS/ISM (CPSM)/Supply Chain certification would be desirable.
  • Strong Analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to deliver excellent work with little supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, cross functional environment.
  • Some experience in any or all areas including Project Management, negotiation, general commodity market knowledge, or general Supply Chain knowledge.
