Process Engineer

We are currently working with a global supplier of lightweight aluminium castings who feed into major automotive manufacturers around the world and are looking for a Process Engineer to join their team.

Responsibilities as a Process Engineer:

  • Support rolling production plan.
  • Full understanding of setting the die casting cell.
  • Production robot program changeovers, back-ups and general overseeing.
  • Shift handover meetings.
  • Drive quality & OEE performance.
  • Documentation of set-up paperwork and action reports.
  • Reacting to quality issues.
  • Maintaining the die cast process within set cycle times.
  • Understanding and adjusting DCM parameters to achieve desired results.

Skills needed for Process Engineer:

  • Good communication skills both oral & written.
  • Reasonable computer skills.
  • 3 years’ experience in high pressure die casting.
  • Hard working, self-motivated, mobile and willing to take on whatever duties are required to meet the needs of the job.
  • Facilitate and co-ordinate quality requirements, ensuring customer standards are met.
  • Need to be attentive to detail and follow procedures set out.
  • Support team members in identification of improvement activities and problem solving.
  • Ensure all data collection is correct and time constraints are met.
  • Ensure all quality procedures are implemented and adhered to.
  • Maintenance and establishment of systems/procedures to control set-up recording and storage; cycle time review/cycle breakdown analysis; preventative maintenance; continuous improvements of system reliability.

Normal Hours of Work:   37 hours per week. With additional hours as required to maintain the efficient running of the department.

 

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing planned, preventative and reactive maintenance on the plant, equipment, buildings and facilities of the site. This is a hands on role to maintain and improve all aspects of the operational site

 

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Fault find within the machine shop environment and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems as appropriate.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) checks on machines and equipment in line with the CMMS schedule.
  • Carry out complete site maintenance for all aspects and areas of the site, maintaining a high standard of site facilities and the overall site environment/appearance.
  • Conduct best practice and highlight opportunities for continuous improvementwith regards to plant and equipment reliability.
  • Work in a safe, tidy manner in line with Company policy.
  • Perform other such duties commensurate with the nature and level of the post as may be reasonably required.
  • A formal, recognised apprenticeship related to the trade endorsed by EITB, EMTA or AMA documentation or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Fully skilled maintenance technician with either mechanical, electrical or electromechanical bias.
  • Practical experience in fault finding within a machine shop environment, and the ability to repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Demonstrable understanding and application of safe working practices.
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive, pro-active, can-do attitude and work calmly under pressure.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Committed to work to deadlines and determined to see a job through to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrable desire to progress, succeed, and ability to work as part of a team or work independently
  • Practical ability to fault find from electrical/mechanical drawings or PLC systems relating to hydraulic or pneumatic circuits.

  • You will be responsible for a team of 25 overall including 3 Senior Managers, who retrospectively manage their own teams. Finite, strong leadership and organisation skills are critical for this position.
  • You will manage key objectives and work assignments within the Engineering & Projects functions, setting targets and KPI’s against these objectives and providing the guidance, direction, and prioritisation to achieve them
  • Managing the workload, quality, and timeliness of the outputs from the project management team across projects and provide guidance and direction on workload prioritisation according to the business strategy
  • Ensuring excellent capabilities and outputs in product design and development by building upon the team and structure to align new product development with Company strategy
  • Being the primary technical knowledge interface for working with our customers and suppliers on product opportunities, performance improvements and technical issues resolution
  • Acting as the technical lead for the Company’s knowledge of engineering & design standards and requirements
  • Being a champion and facilitator for implementing and applying Lean-CI and VA/VE tools and techniques in engineering to support operational productivity improvements

Experience as Head of Engineering:

  • An Engineering degree level qualification in mechanical or electrical design as a minimum
  • Proven experience in both engineering & management roles, with additional experience in production/industrialization management being an advantage
  • Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to motivate, manage and develop teams
  • Project management experience and training, with a knowledge of structured PM methodologies
  • Analytical and able to solve complex problems of varying natures
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills, able to express complicated topics to a broader audience and                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              comfortable liaising across business functions at different levels
  • Comfortable working with customers and a track record of successfully representing a company technically with third parties
  • Demonstrable knowledge of relevant machining, fabrication, and assembly capital equipment technologies and capabilities

  • Experience in Drives and Controls is an advantage
